Frequent Questions

What is counselling and Psychotherapy?

‘Counselling and Psychotherapy are umbrella terms that cover a range of talking therapies. They are delivered by trained practitioners who work with people over a short or long term to help them bring about effective change or enhance their wellbeing.’ BACP

How long will counselling/psychotherapy take?

It normally takes a couple of sessions for your awareness to increase and to start seeing changes/improvements in your life. How long you’re in Counselling for depends on your issues and how willing you are to deal with your issues. There’s no set limit on the number of sessions you have; you decide when you want to end the therapeutic process.

Do I need Counselling?

There’s a few ways to find out whether you need insight into your life.

Are you unhappy?

Even if you don’t know what the causes of your unhappiness is, therapy can help you to establish what may be impacting you and provide you insight into helping you resolve your issue.

Are you coping?

If you feel you struggles to get by from one day to the next, it may be that you don’t have any coping strategies in place or there is some underlying issues, which you’re unaware of. Therapy can help with both.

Do you know why you say and behave in the way that you do?

Are there things you say and do that confuse you, you do them and say things but never quite understand why? Counselling can help you work out what’s going on for you unconsciously, making you aware of it so you can change it.

Do you have sudden strong urges?

What our clients say

Review. Transformation. Happy.

Our past clients from Birmingham who successfully completed their counselling therapy with us, have shared their journeys.

``I wasn't sure if Counselling was going to help but it made such a big positive difference to me and my life. It was one of the best decisions I made. Kay was a great help, she was very understanding, never judged me and was a calming influence in the sessions. I worked at my own pace, talked about what was going on for me, worked through my issues. We worked together to put copying strategies in place and ways for me to cope on my own. I would recommend Kay to anyone who's looking to have Counselling.``
