Ever sit there and think ‘I hate people’? Ever considered the reasons why you hate people in general and why you feel so much anger towards them? Let’s look at why you may be feeling this way and how to deal with it:
- Anger/Resentment. Anger and resentment towards people usually start with feeling anger or resentment towards one or two people and as your anger towards these few people grows, your anger generalizes these people and all others to be the same. Dealing with your anger towards the individuals who caused it, will allow you to see there are people out there who aren’t the same as them.
- Comparison. You compare yourself to others and find that you believe others are always doing better than you and life has handed you a bad had whereas everyone else has got it easier or better. Work on not comparing your reality to someone else’s highlight reel.
- Impact. Look at the impact hating others is having on your mental, physical and emotional health, make a list of how this hatred is impacting you and each time you feel the anger towards them, remind yourself of the list and that you deserve better than to have to go through those things.
- Challenge. Challenge yourself every time you say you hate people, ask yourself why you hate them and whether the answer you’re giving yourself is rational, if it isn’t, stop yourself from continuing to feel or think negatively.
Try the above and see how you get on, always remember hating others doesn’t affect them, it only affects you in the long run.
