Counselling and Psychotherapy are umbrella terms that cover a range of talking therapies. They are delivered by trained practitioners who work with people over a short or long term to help them bring about effective change or enhance their wellbeing.’ BACP

There are many different therapies and methods that can be used. I am an Integrative Counsellor which means I work with many different theories and methods: if you have a specific approach in mind you would like, please let us know and we will incorporate this into your Counselling sessions.

When you have a desire, no matter how small, to want things to change, you can access our services.

Your initial session will centre around your therapist understanding you, your needs, issues and your history in order to establish which approach may be best suited to you, enabling you to move forward with your life.

It normally takes a couple of sessions for your awareness to increase and to start seeing changes/improvements in your life. How long you’re in Counselling for depends on your issues and how willing you are to deal with your issues. There’s no set limit on the number of sessions you have; you decide when you want to end the therapeutic process.

Therapy can be a scary concept when it’s your first time accessing a mental health service. This is a process many individuals go through however once you’ve had your first session, you’ll feel a lot more comfortable about the process. If you want your life to change for the better, you can always give us a call.

Are you unhappy?

Even if you don’t know what the causes of your unhappiness are, therapy can help you to establish what may be impacting you and provide you with insight into helping you resolve your issue.

Are you coping?

If you feel you are struggling to get by from one day to the next, it may be that you don’t have any coping strategies in place or there are some underlying issues, which you’re unaware of. Therapy can help with both.

Do you know why you say and behave in the way that you do?

Are there things you say and do that confuse you, you do them and say things but never quite understand why? Counselling can help you work out what’s going on for you unconsciously, making you aware of it so you can change it.

Do you have sudden strong urges?

These feelings come out of nowhere and you act on them but has no idea where they came from. These urges have grown more frequent as time has progressed. Counselling can help provide you with insight into your feelings and how to cope better.

As children tend to learn from what they hear and see, it wouldn’t be ethical to bring children to your sessions. You may be get upset at times, you may discuss things you wouldn’t want your child to hear.
